2D Animation
This is an example of a pencil test. It gives the animator a rough idea of how the animation is flowing.
From here the line quality would be smoothed out and then it would be colored and put on background, voices and sound added.
Our careers began in the 2D animation industry in Los Angeles. Sadly, all the big animation studios are now gone, outsourced to cheaper outlets in Asia. 3D animation has largely replaced 2D in popularity, but we're hoping for a comeback!
Here's a few examples of full color animation with and without sound.
This is from a pilot cartoon series we
created with PMPFX called Rufus & Whiskers. It's about lab animals (a dog, cat and mouse) that are accidently launched into space before the astronauts (humans) are on board. The animals must complete the space mission on their own. It was a combo of 2D and 3D animation with the 3D by Richard Malzhan of PMP. (Recognize the animation from the pencil test?).
